Columbia University Health IT Certificate Program Opportunity

BetterJobsFaster members,

As you know it's rare for me to send a BetterJobsFaster email blast to all members.  We only do it when there's urgent information.  I'm sitting in my hotel room at 6:30am at the HIMSS11 conference writing this so that you get the information as quickly as possible.

Columbia University Health IT Certificate Program

Columbia University is offering a Health IT Certificate program.  Students applying for the program MUST have a bachelor's degree with training or experience in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math) field, healthcare or public health. The majority of the program is done online, but there are 7 Saturday sessions held on campus in New York City.

Tuition is $12,500.  BUT, they have 180 scholarships of $10,000 each as a result of an ONC grant.  They currently only have 52 slots filled, so there is a great opportunity. Scholarships are exclusively for individuals with a background in IT or healthcare BUT NOT HEALTHCARE IT.  From my discussions with them, all you need to qualify for a scholarship is the background prerequisite. Their goal is to bring new talent into the field so this is a great opportunity if your background is in healthcare OR IT and you want to move your career into one of the hottest growing industries in the US.

This is a great opportunity and you are getting an insider's advantage.  Feel free to share it on your networks (e.g., NHNetWorks, Acton Seekers Group, STEMPower.org, etc.). This message will also be posted on the BetterJobsFaster Blog in case you need to refer others to it in the future.

Best wishes and I hope in 2011 you reach your career dreams!
